The business incorporates two components; a wine importing company to select top tier quality products from small boutique wineries located primarily in Piedmont and Tuscany and the Veneto, and to a lesser degree in Bordeaux.
A second entity is charged with sales and distribution with initial focus on select communities within Connecticut. Future growth entails expansion into New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Our objective is to develop and provide a portfolio of top quality wine to be sold through prestige retailers and to provide their patrons with fine wines at great value.
PRODUCTS AND SERVICES:
Our portfolio consists of classic wines from Piedmont and Tuscany the Veneto as well as other regions in Italy at this time. Wine varieties may comprise Barolo, Barbera, Gattinara, Brunellos and Rossos di Montalcino and Super Tuscan blends, as well as Valpolicellas and Amarones, and some sparklers from Franciacorta. In most cases, the wines have been reviewed by their respective governments and classified IGT, DOC and DOCG (Italy). These geographical determination labels add credibility and value to the wines. The wines are to retail between $16 and $125. We intend to expand our portfolio in these regions as well as expand into other areas of Italy in the near future to offer our consumers the opportunity to enjoy the bounty that Italy’s wines has to offer.
EUROPEAN WINE OUTLOOK:
Prices have risen sharply for Bordeaux and Burgundy wines in recent years. Industry watchers speculate that wineries are “pushing the envelope”. And while the harvests in 2013 and 2014 were poor due to weather conditions, prices seem to continue to increase. This has prompted investors and collectors to look toward Barolos and Brunellos as better values. Piedmont and Tuscany have enjoyed excellent harvests in 2012 and 2013. Adding to this trend is the phenomenal year of 2010 in Tuscany which was released in March of 2015 (riserva in 2016). Our initial information on the harvests of 2015 and 2016 are favorable with 2015 possibly being of the same bounty and quality of the 2010 vintage.
